1the Social Assistants

Today, we are here for the trial of this homeless man. This person contacted us for a childcare problem. She has 3 children, one of two years old, two others of six and seven years old who go to primary school. She is divorced, she therefore no longer has custody of her children and they live with their father who has a decent lifestyle. She would like to get her children back but she must find a job first to buy suitable a accommodation for her children. She suffers a lot from her divorce & she feels lonely. The young lady is addicted to alcohol and to stop this we recommend sending her to Rehab . Alcohol has really taken over her life because of loneliness. She lacks hygiene & she must do something, so I want to help her as best as possible to get her life back on track. She must get a taste life again to become independent.

Hello! I am the social assistant .

Thimothy is a homeless person who often comes to see me to tell me about his problems. When he was young his dad was violent with him and his mother. To forget this he started to drink alcohol. His dad was an alcoholic too . His family was very very poor because his father was jobless and his mother only did odd jobs so they didn't have enough money to eat . His wife left him because of his problems with alcohol. He lost custody of his daughter because a court found that he was inapt to keep his daughter due to his alcohol and drugs addiction. After that he fell into depression and had to hang around the city with no shelter and nowhere to go .

one day he got angry because we was talking about his divorce and probably also because of alcohol and he tried to smash a bottle of beer on my head

Please be lenient with this person. As I am a social worker I have been following him since he was a child and I can assure you that his life has not been easy but he is not mean.

.

I have been following him since he was 7 years old because many times the teachers noticed that he would fall asleep in class for hours and never do his homework and that he did not try to integrate the different classes. After many meetings I finally got to know him and I knew that he worked until very late at night to help his mum feed her family, but as time went by the needs of their family increased so he quit school to work in a small convenience store not far from his home. It was at that time that he met his wife. Together they had a daughter, but he lost his job because of the final closure of the convenience store and ended up homeless due to lack of money. So, because of this, he and his wife finally broke up and his wife got custody of his daughter. Ever since then he has been constantly looking for a job to try to earn a decent living and be able to see his daughter who now lives in another country

This is why we must act to allow this man to earn a living and see his family again! I can't leave this man in such a situation when it is not even his fault!

At school he was very disruptful. He didn’t have so many good grades, but he tried his best to be successful despite the difficulties. At the age of 15 years old, he no longer went to school and started to do odd jobs in the city to earn money for his family. At the age of 7 years old, his parents separated so he lived with his mother and no longer saw his father at all because he had gone to live too far away. So he didn’t have the means to go and see him which is why he started to work at the age of 15 years old when he stopped school.

In terms of professional career, he easily found a job in the city as a shoeshiner which made him work full time with very little vacation. But it was to help his mother financially. However, he fell seriously ill and was fired from his job. Then he became unemployed and he was no longer earning any money. His financial situation became critical and he heard about his father’s death without being able go to the funeral, which made him sink into depression.

Since that day he has been living on the streets all year round, so we cannot leave him in this situation !
